Nonablative Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing improves skin tone, texture, wrinkles and scars that surgical procedures cannot address. Utilizing tiny beams of laser energy to precisely target specific layers of the skin, a series of healing responses is produced that leads to tissue regeneration and new collagen formation throughout the entire treatment area. Fractional technology allows for only a portion of the skin to be treated by the laser, leaving “bridges” of untouched skin, significantly shortening the healing time and permitting you to get back to normal activities more quickly.

ActiveFX is a single treatment procedure to smooth out fine lines, decrease brown spots and other irregularities, as well as tighten the skin. The procedure is especially effective around the eyes and for less advanced changes around the mouth. ActiveFX can also be performed on the neck, upper chest and hands.

DeepFX is a revolutionary fractional laser technology for aged, sun-damaged or scarred skin. Because only a portion of the skin is treated, this allows for deeper penetration of the energy into the skin, especially important in the treatment of scars and deep wrinkles. ActiveFX and DeepFX are often used together for TotalFX to address deeper wrinkling, scarring, skin texture and tightening.
At Montana Facial Surgery, we perform the procedure in our office using a topical anesthetic cream and a local anesthetic depending on the area treated. There is some discomfort associated with the procedure, which we work hard to minimize. After the procedure, there is little to no pain. Your home care will be reviewed with you prior to the procedure. Depending on the intensity of the treatment, you should be able to resume normal activity in about a week.

Treatment results are long-term and with proper sun protection can persist for many years. Many effects of the treatment become visible right away, whereas others – such as new collagen formation – build up gradually and become more evident over time. Therefore, most people look even better 3-6 months after the procedure.
